Anna Lukala is a Finnish visual artist with a BA (Hons) in photography from University of Wolverhampton. She is based in the UK. The central themes of her practice are sustainability, the commons, material culture, and folk traditions particularly inspired by narratives surrounding nature, gardening, women’s labour and plant knowledge. Lukala’s process-based research challenges her to look at the environmental footprint of her own creative practice, working in reciprocity with nature and continuously being led by curiosity, mostly using alternative, historical and experimental processes and materials in her work. She has exhibited both in Finland and the UK.
