Mark Rowney/ The Furry & The feathered

I carve to plant trees, I paint to feed birds, I draw to grow flowers that the Bees may be sustained.I work using sculpture and painting to express my love of the nature that surround my home here in the high hills of Co.Durham , a rather damp piece of Heaven. I don't judge my work based on on any Artistic ability but try to produce work that I alone am somewhat satisfied with. I am however overjoyed if people respond positively to my endeavours. My work tries to tell visual stories of a rural life that embraces nature. I very rarely show my work, maybe in some way these visualisations act as a journal or diary of my life.I was born in the North of England, worked as an illustrator in London and NewYork where I also worked for the fashion designer 'Paul Smith', creating accessories and then onto New Delhi, India where I became an Embroidery designer. I decided after many years working overseas and creating for others, that I would return to the Dales and live following my own passions.
